California Bans most sport fishing for salmon
Sunday, May 11th, 2008The state of california and its Departmant of fish and wildlife have decided to protect the salmon in California rivrers by placing a ban on most of the sport fishing. They decided to pass these regulations during Friday’s meeting in Montery. The regulations will limit the amount of fishing than can take place on the Sacramento River during the fall salmon run in the months of November and December. The hope is to protect the already low Chinok salmon population from further decline. The US government has already passed laws to prevent salmon fishing along the coast of California and parts or Oregon. These regulations hopefully will secure a brighter future for the Chinok salmon, recreational fisherman and commercial fishing industries. We will follow up at a later time as we get more updates from the California dept of fish and wildlife
